Sunday August 3rd 1919 It was raining early this morning. Hattie and The Girls went to church. We were at Fannies for dinner. I was looking over things in my part of the house in forenoon. We rode awhile after dinner. They brought me home and I lay down as I had headache. The Whetstones and Fannie went to Cedar Rapids after early supper. I ate later. Ott up in evening. Monday August 4th 1919 I did some writing in the forenoon and did a few other things. Wrote Vinnie and card to Gertrude Smith William took me to town soon after dinner to do errands. The girls were home all day. Spent evening in the yard. Tuesday August 5th 1919 Working about the back part of the house in forenoon. Hattie and the girls to town in the afternoon. The folks took a ride down to Aunt Ellens in the evening. very warm. Wednesday August 6th 1919 We decided to have the chimneys on the house rebuilt and two men begin the work tomorrow. The carpenters were working at the back of the house. The Miller girls went to town in the evening. I wrote letter to Laura. Still warm. Thursday August 7th 1919 The carpenters doing many little things left till the last to finish up. The men began painting out side of house. We were over at Coras for dinner. I had to come \right away to see about things. Hattie had to go to town awhile. We had the chimney torn down on the front part of the house. very much cooler today.
