Sunday April 14th 1912 I was busy with the house-work all forenoon. I wrote a long letter to Lydia in the afternoon and got some of the things I will need for my trip ready. Read in the evening. Easter Sunday Monday April 15th 1912. It was a year today since Fannie took mother to Dr Hobby and he told her to keep her foot up and she never walked again. I did a little washing and more cooking and had the dinner over so I went to town at 1:15. I signed the quit claim to the home place and Ott gave me a letter from Nellie. There is trouble in Chicago again and this time I guess it is for good. Will had the old wind mill taken down today. After I came from town I did some more work and got my things ready to go tomorrow. Tuesday April 16th 1912 I got up and had my breakfast so I started to Cedar Rapids on the first car. I had a fine trip from there to Carroll on the fast mail. I changed cars several times after that and reached Laurel about eight oclock where Lois Simpson and husband met me at the depot. Walked up to their home where Liv had a nice supper for me. We visited awhile. The papers today told of the sinking of the largest boat in the world "The Titanic" by striking an ice-berg of New Foundland Sunday night. Wednesday April 17th 1912 Spent the day visiting with Lois. We were out for a walk in the afternoon. I wrote home. This is a pretty little town and beautiful country around it. Weather cool and bright.
