Thursday April 18th 1912 It was a beautiful day. I wrote to Aunt Sarah and Lizzie Lindley in the morning and Los and I walked about town. I got my things ready in the evening to start tomorrow. Friday April 19th 1912 I left Laurel at 7.20 and reached Omaha a little after 12.00 I got some dinner and had a comfortable wait till 4.10. I started home on the C.R.I & P reaching Iowa City at about one oclock. I went to bed at "The New Wert Hotel" and slept till after seven. [deleted text?: I went over the river and Will come down for dinner.] The papers today told of the landing of the passengers rescued from the ship Titanic. There were more than 700 but there was more than 1,300 people drowned. some very noted people. Saturday April 20th 1912 I slept till after seven and then went over home and Will came down for dinner. I had a good visit with Hattie. The girls came to town soon after dinner. I came home at 2.30 and Will an hour later. I read the paper about the terrible ship wreck and we talked some. They had snow here while I was away. I am glad I insurred it. So tired I went to bed early. Sunday April 21st 1912. It was a frightfully windy day. I did the morning work and some cooking and in the afternioon wrote a long letter to Rob & Cora and a letter to Lois Simpson. I was over to Jones after supper. Will and I sat and talked till after ten oclock about things that happened in Delavan that interested him before we were worried. Fate has strange things in store for us that we dream not of.
