Tuesday August 19th 1913 I went to Cedar Rapids at 9:30 with Lorie & Cora and Hattie Fannie & Mrs Crane came later to go to Zoe Storeys to a birth day dinner for Mrs Hartsock. I had lunch at a store and met Alma at The Library. I then went to Mrs Storeys to call and then Hattie Lorie Cora & I went to Newt [Parvins?] Lorie staid all night and the rest all came home at 5:00. Wednesday August 20th 1913 Will helped me do a big washing this morning. I wrote a card did some baking before dinner. It was late before I got my dinner work done. Will mowed the yard it was a hard job. I went to town in afternoon. very warm. I was busy till nearly bed time. Thursday August 21st 1913 I got up early and ironed and did other house work. Will was telephoned this morning to tell Mrs Huddlestone that Elmer had been found dead down near town. a case of suicide. at noon we got a paper telling of the death of Paul Condon. I wrote a letter to Lydia. Thursday August 21st 1913 I got up early and ironed & then wrote some notes and cards after dinner I cut out my white dress and sewed till bed time. Friday August 22nd 1913 I sewed all day and till bed time on my white dress doing with as little housework as possible. It is so sad over Mary Briggs death. Uncle received word she died yesterday, there are no particulars.
