Friday May 8th 1914 I went up town this morning called at Clara Fosters and later took dinner there. I was at Mrs Shirts, Mrs Byron Pratts and [Hartie?] McKinsteys. I stopped to see Aunt Racheal and got back to Venes at two oclock. I changed my dress, did some packing and wrote Will & Birdie. Vene & I started to Marties at 8:30. While we waited in Bloomington an hour I found Aunt Mary Folson who lives with her niecce Mrs Bryan. She is 93 years old. We reached Elliott on time and Charlie met us. Martie was very glad to see us and especially her Mother. Saturday May 9th 1914 We spent the day and evening quietly visiting with the folks here. This is a beautiful country. The folks are well situated. This is Hatties birthday. She and Will were to take supper at Rob & Coras. Sunday May 10th 1914. We left Marties at 10:30. All the family going with us to Gibson City. Reaching Mt Pulaski at 2:35 we waited two hours for a train to Delavan, reached there at 5:35 and were soon home. The day turned out very warm. After eating the nice supper Edith had ready we spent the evening on the proch. To bed early we were tired. Mondauy May 11th 1914 I left Delavan at 10:42 and had a three hour wait at Peoria. Got some lunch and worked on my tatting. The trip to Burlington was pleasant reaching there at 6:40. When I got up to the Harris House found Old Uncle Jim was dead and to be buried the next day. Birdie had expected Hattie at 1:45 but a fightful rain Sunday night had interfered with travel. I wrote Lydia. There was severe storm in Burlington but not till about an hour after I got there.
