Friday July 2nd 1909 With Wills help I put things to rights in the south room up stairs and cleaned the floor with a brush In the afternoon I cleaned all the floors in the front of the house that way. Will was in town. It was some cooler today. Ott was out after supper he gave me a check for $78.00 for abstract dividends as a serprise. Saturday July 3rd 1909 Much cooler. Will put down the floor in the garret the Light men had tore up and I put that in order after dinner I washed carpet. Will went to town awhile We saw in tonights paper that Mary Lucas would be buried tomorrow. Sunday July 4th 1909 I went down home this morning stopping at Woolfs on the way. It looked so much like rain Mother did not come home with me. We went to the funeral in the afternoon and it rained but we got a carriage and did not get wet. Monday July 5th 1909 It rained most of the day I was busy with the regular work and sewed a carpet that had been washed Will was about the house most of the day It was a bad day for those who expected to celebrate for the 4th
