Saturday August 27th 1904 I was very busy all forenoon and soon after dinner I went as far as home with Will. He went on to town. I finished my sewing. Fannie & William went to Marshalltown and Ott & Legrand went as far as Ceder Rapids. Came home early to do work. Mother telephoned me in evening that John came home sick. Sunday August 28th 1904 Will went to the pasture and I was busy most of the forenoon with the house work. I read and wrote in afternoon. It set in to rain just before night. We went to bed early. John is still sick. Monday August 29th 1904 It was raining this morning. I fixed up things for Will and he went down on the nine oclock car to start to Delavan. It rained most of the day. I sewed and made tatting. Walter could not do much Father started to Chicago this morning for a visit. Tuesday August 30th 1904 I did the regular work and dried corn. Walter began tearing out the old [stone?] pile. I wrote Will in the afternoon. weather cooler.
