Saturday January 20th 1906 It was fairly warm today. We got up early as Will was to help Ed Koser fill his ice house today. It thawed so they had to quit soon after dinner. Will went to town on the car. I sent down a cake and the butter to the home folks. Sauk {the Reed's dog} is not well. We read in the evening, then both took a bath and went to bed early. Sunday January 21st 1906 It turned very cold. We were in the house all day reading. I got the meals. My back still hurts me Sauk seems about the same, perhaps a little better. Tuesday January 23rd 1906 It came out clean and pleasant this forenoon. I was busy with the work all forenoon. Will hitched to the sled and took me down home n the afternoon. I was shocked to see the change in Hattie in the two weeks since I saw her. I came home very sad and discouraged. I tired to read some but could not put my mind to any thing.
