Wednesday February 1st 1899 Weather quite cold. Charlie went to town to get corn ground. I was busy about the work a good part of the day and worked some on my bedspread. Thursday February 2nd 1899 The boys killed the hogs in the forenoon that Will bought up at [Marfords] In the afternoon we went up to Dick Reeds for four turkey hens. Friday February 3rd 1899 The boys cut up the hogs this morning and then went to the bottom fields to break stalks. I got the lard and sausage all trimmed out by supper time and in the evening the boys ground and stuffed the sausage. I was very tired. It was a cold day. Saturday February 4th 1899 It was a very cold day but we went to town. We found Lee and Mary Woolf both better Will took his dinner over to Woolfs. We got invitations to the marriage of George Stevens and Flora Kelso I got them a little present. I had extra work to do after I came home. I felt nearly sick from the exposure to the cold and the hard work of the last few days.
