Sunday February 5th 1899 It was a very cold day. Charlie went over to Hill Siding and did not get back till nearly night I got Will and I some dinner and read a little I feel the worse for my trip yesterday. Monday February 6th 1899 Will helped me and we fried out the lard and I cleaned up the kitchen and did some baking. I am working on my bed spread what spare time I have. Tuesday February 7th 1899 I finished up the work with the butchering by cleaning the feet and hands. It takes nearly all the time to do the necessary work when it is so cold. Wednesday February 8th 1899 The weather is something frightful for the cold It was impossible for us to go to Lone-Tree to see George Stevens and Flora Kelso married. I dont think any one but the Stevens family went. Charlie walked over to Hill Siding and went to town by train Thursday February 9th 1899 The weather very little better than yesterday We can do nothing but the regular work and not that with any comfort. It is two months today since Edith died
