Sunday February 26th 1899 It was a cold ugly day. We did the necessary work and I read some. & wrote to Laura Mason. went to bed early. Monday February 27th 1899 We went to town in the [cutter?]. I was at Ashleys and did some shopping. I walked over home and John rode with Will. We had quite a visit after dinner before coming home. I had a letter from Laura she says a doctor from Peoria will operate on Martin on tomorrow. She is very bad of. Tuesday February 28th 1899 I worked some today and after dinner I sewed up my old serge dress in the afternoon and read in the evening. The clothes got dry. Wednesday March 1st 1899 Will went to town and was at Woolfs for dinner Harry Albright is there from Delavan. I got a letter from Laura today saying Martin stood the operation all right. I had a letter from Maurice with the tax reciepts for the Delavan property and voucher for interest paid to Mr [Croff?]. I ironed and sewed on my dress today and read the paper Will brought in the evening
