Friday June 30th 1899 We were both busy all forenoon doing baking and clearing up the lower part of the house. Emma went after her friend to stay with her and did not get home till night. I did some sewing in the afternoon besides a lot of other things. Saturday July 1st 1899 After early breakfast Will took me up town to take the train for Burlington. Nellie met me at the depot Bird was at the depot to meet us. Nellie went on home in the afternoon and after supper Bird and I went up to Call on Dorothy Shultz. Weather warm. Sunday July 2nd 1899 I read in the forenoon and wrote some while Bird was busy looking after the house. In the afternoon we went up to call on Ella Rhodes but could only stay a few moments for fear of rain. Spent the evening at the house visiting with different ones. Monday July 3rd 1899 John Veers took me to the depot and I reached Carthage before nine oclock Ida & Mr Cutler were at the depot It rained so we could not go out in the afternoon but spent the time visiting at home. They are very pleasantly situated. Mrs Talbott was there
