Friday January 8th 1897 We went down to Elmer & Ida Andersons by invitation today and had a pleasant visit with other company there Weather bright. got supper work done. wrote in evening. Saturday January 9th 1897 I got the morning work done and we had dinner early to go to town. I walked over the river for a little while. The roads were bad and we came home early. Will heard in town that Scott Lindley was in trouble about the public money in Humbolt Co. where is Co. Treasurer. too bad too bad Sunday January 10th 1897 We were both busy about the work most of the forenoon as it was late when we got up and the roads were too rough to go to church. Our spare time was devoted to reading. Monday January 11th 1897 It was a fine day for work. I did a big washing with a little help from Will. In the afternoon I churned and cleaned up the kitchen. After getting supper over and folding the clothes ready to iron, I read in a book. Tuesday January 12th 1897 I got the ironing before I got dinner though it was a little late. I did some mending in the afternoon and read in the evening. Will was about home all day. [Anson Ten Eyk?] was here to look at the place with the view of renting it. Wednesday January 18th 1897 It snowed some last night but we went down to the church dinner. I enjoyed it so much. In the evening Ernest [Davis?] brought Mary & Jennie Woolf out. that completed a happy day
