Sunday March 7th 1897 We had only just got our work done up and sat down to read a little when [Karl] Bird came and said his mother died early this morning. After dinner Mother and I went over to Aunt Lindas. We found her sitting up. After our supper we read awhile. Our new [mom?] left today. Monday March 8th 1897 As soon as Will got his work done we went to town and took Father and Mother home. After dinner [then?] we came over to Birds for a short call. As soon as I came home I went over to Aunt Lindas. Will and I [bathed?] all evening. Tuesday March 9th 1897 I felt any thing but well this morning and the weather was so gloomy. We decided to not go to the funeral today as Will had work he felt must be done and the roads [were?] very bad. I was busy about the house most of the forenoon and spent the afternoon with Aunt Linda. I wrote in the evening. Wednesday March 10th 1897 It was a pleasant day and Will helped me do a big washing. I [put?] in the afternoon at work cleaning [porches?] and the summer kitchen Will at home all day. Thursday March 11th 1897 I ironed in the forenoon and got dinner. Ray was here for his trunk. I was going over to Aunt Lindas in the afternoon but it rained a hard shower Friday March 12th 1897 I churned and got butter ready to go to [Louis?] [Name?]. I spent the afternoon over to Callies. I knit in the evening
