that a Religious which regards god & another World in [opositi?] or so Men & be our [prepared?] [illegible] moral Advantages when ye principal & [swaying?] motives of our Piety are A fence of gods Authority over as & of our Duty & obligation to him A fear of his Displeasure and Threatenings & of hopes of ye Glorious Reward which he hath promised to Obedience; These Motives are properly Religious; because they respect God, & are ye Argument to obedience & that is a sincere Piety, which is wrought in us by these Considerations: for even in ye Most of men fear does many times Prevail more than Love & in case of great temptation; may Preserve men from sin: when perhaps no other consideration will do it on the contrary that is an unsincere piety to which we are moved: meerly
