Camp on Bear Creek August, TUESDAY, 11, 1863. I made my first attempt at Drilling the Company, as our Commisioned officers are on duty & sick succeeded very well apparently. in Bayonet drill & Manual of Arms WEDNESDAY, 12. I wrote a letter to G. L. Henderson, with ten Dollars $10.00 inclosed. Capt Warner Detailed to serve on a Court Martial. Lieut. Reed Detailed to command Co H. Temporarily. Lieut Cook gone Home on Leave for 20 days THURSDAY, 13. Our Co on Picket to day. I Recd. a letter from Jane Dated July 30th., Reading Rob Roy while out on Picket at the Reserve Post. A black man with His Family Commenced Cooking for us
