27 Defences of Nashville Tenn Dec. 4th. 1864 Sunday As all the Officers late in Comd. of Companies in the 12". have left us, Lt. Col Stibbs put all the Ranking sergts in Comd of their Cos on the 2d inst. untill such time as He Can Recomend for Promotion Such men from Regt. as He deems qualified to fill vacancies, as He stays on condition that He is wanted with that Condition. Strenthened our works to day, Heavey firing from our siege guns on the left. No reply from the Enemy
