38 Defences of Nashville Tenn Dec 15th. 1864 Thursday Moved out this morning at 8 oclock formed for Battle and marched stedily on the works of the Enemy. our Entire Division Charged all the Rebel Batteries in our front. our Brigade Captured two forts & 3 guns & drove an entire Division from their works Co. C lost in wounded two I. L. Jordan & Ben Delezene Both severe. Col. Hill Comdg Brigade was killed Total capture to day was 18 guns & 1200 prisoners (Vertically, at left:-) Recd a letter from Jane this evening with a note from Louis Kerr inclosed
