43 On the March in Tennessee Dec 19th. 1864 Monday Moved through Franklin this morning which is now filled with Wounded Confederates from the late Battles. Every where off the Pike Roads the mud is ankle deep. Marched all day in a Heavey Rain towards Columbia and Camped 4 miles south of Spring Hill. Along our line of march to day there is evidence of a hasty Retreat, Broken waggons, Cassons Cartridge Boxs, broken guns &c. We got very wet to day
