44 In the Field in Tennessee Dec 20th.1864 Tuesday Remained in Camp until 3 oclock P.M. when we marched a few miles to the front & Camped after dark while the rain fell in torrents, which makes it allmost imposible for Field operations against the Enemy who has made a Stand near Columbia on Duck River. A.C. Bushnell failed to Report to Co. last night & still absent. W.A. Lyons took advantage of my permission to go to Regt. on the 16th.& still absent & went to Camp (Vertically, at left:-) Wrote a letter to D.B. Henderson
