47 In the late battles before Nashville the federal Army lost 2000 men in Killed & Wounded, 1000 of which was from the 16th. Corps which is the smallest of either Corps in the engagements. Our 1st Division Captured in the Two days fighting 50 pieces of Artillery, mostly 12 lb Napoleons. we took a very fine battery maned by Frenchmen Called the French Battery. We also Captured many Prisoners who were Captured by us at Ft. Donelson 3 years ago.
