66 Lawrenceburgh Tennessee Dec 30th 1864 Friday Marched this morning Towards Clifton on the Tennessee. Passed through Lawrenceburg a very old Country Town The most interesting feature of the place is a great Monument Erected on Court Square to the memory of a Captain & 25 men who fell in Battle at the Capture of Monterey in the Mexican War. they belonged to Company from this place in the 1st Tenn Regt of Infty. (Vertically, at left:-) Marched 12 miles to day
