70 Waynesboro Tennessee January 1st 1863 Sunday The first day of 1865 broke on us under somewhat unfavorable Circumstances. Many of us are nearly or quite barefooted by marching on the pike Roads in wet weather, we have been on short Rations for some days & we are entirely out ot supplies, as our Division train is far behind in the mud, & some of us march without breakfast.
