102 the nature and disipline of the Service on Gun Boats. They are very strict and inflict punishments for triveal offenses, to day one Sailor was loaded with 24 lbs solid shot which He had to cary for 4 hours, for the slight offence of.opening His Clothing sack without permission. But after all such disipline is best for the service, and the men have fine opportunities for Cleanliness, and good Comfortable Hammocks to sleep in, and Regularity in meals, & sleep & work &
