148 Mississippi River on Transport Feby 11th / 65 Saturday the fleet of Boats Containing 1st Div arrived at Memphis Tenn early this morning wher we lay over to day to coal up & draw Clothing, as considerable plundering was done at Cairo by men of this Div. they were onely allowed to leave the boats in limited numbers of 2 per Company. Captain D.W. Reed volunteered a loan to me of $20.00 which I accepted. Climate [some?] milder allready
