154 Vicksburg Miss Feby 17th 1865 Friday We met Lieut Meagher Mustering Officer of 1st Div 16" A.C. according to Appointment this morning at 9 oclock and was duly mustered & sworn as 1st Lieutenant of Co C. 12th Iowa V V. Infty for the unexpired term of the Regt. Veteran service My Discharge is dated Feby 5th 1865, and my Muster in as Lt is dated back to same date to Rank & draw pay as Lt from Feby 5th 1865
