168 Came up to Vicksburg & finding we were started south follows us to Orleans wher He found us this moring. A.N. Smith formerly 2d Lt of C is now a Capt of Co D in Earl's Regt. a battle with oranges was fought this morning between part of our Brigade on shore, & the part on board steamer the land forces was victorious, from the fact that their ammunition was more abundent
