174 The Creole element of this City is very aparent in the looks and manners of the Inhabitants, in fact the poorer Classes is the best & most loyal part of the population as the wealthy are mostly secessionists and favor the Aristocracy & right of the rich to Control & govern the Industrious many. The haughty Demeanour of the Southern Lady is apparent to the Casual observer & makes them seem very un Lady like
