175 New Orleans Ten Feb 25 1865 Saturday I Recd a letter from D.B. Henderson, the Draft is not to take place in Iowa & Recruiting is stoped. Our camp on Chalmette plantation, is the Mudy spot of Earth I have ever seen on the globe, in Consequence of the late & Continual rains. I sent my late Discharge home by mail to day moved our Camp from the monumental Cemetery to a dry piece of ground
