223 Donnely's Mill Fish River ala March 23d 1865 Thursday Considerable firing on the Picket Lines this morning our Brigade fell in, went out to our line of yesterday, & large details were made from each Regt. to work on the Fortifications, The works are made by felling the Pine Timbers piling them up and throwing earth on the outside making strong works against Infantry. Our Regt.s works 2/3 finished to day. I wrote a letter today to D. B. Henderson.
