227 In the Field in Ala March 26" 1865 Sunday Moved on this morning the 16" Corps still in front the 2d Division leading, some skirmishing in the morning. the country is flat & densely covered with Pitch pines, which in places as been taped for Turpentine & resin marched 7 miles and Camped building works in the afternoon. we are now in the vicinity of an old spanish Fort occupied by a strong force of the enemy
