236 in line of Battle as the Rebels were reported as advancing when we arrived. I with Co. C. was sent out on the skirmish line after dark. and we had some dificulty in find the true position of both forces but succeeded after a short time by making a reconisence in person i was at one time halted by a [?] of the 7" Minn who supposed me to be a Rebel in disguise.The night passed off with considerable firing on both sides
