248 Siege of Spanish Fort Ala April 8" 1865 Saturday we were Relieved this morning from Picket by Co "S". at day light we were fired on Considerable last night both by the Rebel Pickets and artillery from their Fort in our Front. No Causulties in our Co. I slept all fore noon to day, as there is no chance for sleep on duty in the trenches. We are using wooden mortars on our Skirmish lines with good success, which is far ahead of wooden nut megs & flannel sausages.
