262 In the Field in Alabama April 14th 1865 Friday Marched this morning at 9 oclock in a direction parallel with the Alabama River. Made very slow progress in Consequence of wet places and a large train so that we did not get into Camp untill 8 oclock P.M. and marched only 11 miles, The Country is a pine Forest and has that peculiarly lonely aspect of all uninhabitated Forests of Tall pines
