266 In the Field in Alabama April 17th 1865 Monday Camped on the East Bank of the Escambia River last night, crossed on Pontoons this morning. the 1st Div in the rear and our Brigade was Train Guard 5 men to a waggon, and the [advance?] Division were so long in Crossing that it was 1/2 past 3 P.M. before our Regt left the River. and then we marched very Rappidly with the Train for 10 miles & Camped on the (Vertically, at right:-) Little Escambia at sunset
