271 On the March in Alabama April 21st 1865 Friday Heavy rain early this morning. But we broke Camp early and marched rappidly for 17 miles through [Terrible?] roads and a Continual Heavy rain, wadding streams & sloughs, & getting wet & very muddy. Camped at 3 P.M. one mile from Greenville, 9 days from Spanish Fort and the distance marched up to this morning is 134 miles in those 9 days.
