173 Dispatches purporting to be official have Come to Corps Hd.Qrs to the effect, that Joe Johnson has also surrendered to Sherman & that the Confederate leaders have ordered their Armies to lay down arms over every where, I have doubt of its truth, Our [folks?] published one Issue of the Greenville Observer today and it was very well done. Nothing is being destroyed & Guards is placed over all property in the Village. The citizens quite Friendly
