279 Many of our Regt were recognized by Citizens who knew them as prisoners of war. the City is laid out to Conform to Hills which run at acute angles which gives it an irregular apearance, But very picturesque & pleasant as viewed from some of the elevations near the City. Gen A.J. Smith has His Hd Qrs in the City. with part of Gen Kerr's Division 3 as provost Guard & Garrison. The fleet has not arrived. The Ration done
