295 Montgomery Ala May 8th 1865 Monday By the late papers we have strange Reports of Gen Sherman. assuming unusual Powers in granting terms to Rebels, and that Hostilities has been resumed by order of the War Dept. & Gen Grant. We Recd order for the 1st Division to March for Selma. I wrote a letter to Mrs C.J. Henderson and one to G.L. Henderson. Cool showers of rain last night. Wrote a letter for Joe Allan to his mother
