298 Selma Alabama May 11, 1865 Thursday Arrived at Selma this morning at 2 A.M. Disembarked at 6 oclock A.M. and marched through the City to the Fortifications on the river below & Bivouacked on the flat. we are to take the place of the 2d Division 13th Corps which has orders to Embark for Mobile. All the Business, Houses, printing office, Arsenal, &c was Destroyed by our Cavilry under Wilson April 2d / 65. The City is very pretty, but much Dilapidated
