2 Selma Ala Tuesday May 16th. 1865 I was Detailed as officer of the Picket Guard and Reported at Reg't Head Qurs when guard was mounted and then marched to Brigade Hd. Qurs. where the Brigade Details met for Guard mounting and Review and from there were assigned our Post on the line of Fortification arround the City. I had 30 men of the 7th Minn. and my Posts were the Mongomery. & Blue Mont - n Reach. Many Confederate Soldiers Came in on their way.Horne. & Hundreds of negroes (rest illegible)
