4 Selma Alabama May 18th,, 1865 Thursday I took a walk through the City this morning, and found it full of Confederate Soldiers a great many of whom are officers from Brigadier to Corporals, many of the officers are in their full dress uniforms, marked with all their Insignia of Rank, Stars Bars, &c and Selma today Can produce more grey Coat'd Soldiers than blue, and every Boat and Train brings in more who are paroled and furnished Transportation to their Homes. Rained nearly all day which has a refreshing affect on the [illegible] Foliage,
