5 Selma Alabama May 19th,, 1865 Friday A Brvet General. Here today from Mobile bringing many absentees back to their Regt from the Hospitals. No mail yet, But any number of unauthenticated Rumours of the Surrender of Kirby Smith & His Army, and the mustering out of the Volunteer forces of our Army. All are very anxious to be included in the number to be mustered out for inglorious inactivity is not suited to those who for 4 years have mingled in the most active and important Campaigns of the World's History. (rest illegible)
