8 Selma Ala May 22d 1865 Monday I am a bout laid up on account of some very painfull boils on various parts of my body. Reading one of Eugene Sue's stories "The Loves of Paris" and less of the voluptury is manifested in the story than is usually found in Sues Tales, Jordan & Geo Brown went fishing to day. and by threading a line across the Creek they Caught 3 Cat fish and one eel. Trains are now running from Selma to Vicksburg Daily Supplies & forage is brought over that road for this army, The weather is most oppressively Hot now [illegible] part
