18 Selma Ala May 31st..1865 Wedensday I Read the life of Isabela 2d Queen of Spain who had a Stormy and disolute life. Also that of Queen Victoria of England whos life is in Striking Contrast to that of many of the Kings & Queens of Europe, The Quartermaster arrived from New Orleans with our baggage & Regt. & Co Property. I recd a letter from Jas Henderson Jnr. who is still with is Regt. and Division at Montgomery Ala. Official notice has been Received of the surrender of Kirby Smith, the Rebellion is ended.
