20 Selma Ala June 2d 1865 Friday The Col Commanding this part of Selma Ala. had hoped that all officers late of the Rebel Armies would remove from their Clothing [less?], Stars, Bars, and other Insignia of their Disloyalty but such is not the Case, so He has ordered that after June 1st / 65 all men wearing such marks will be arested & such Clothing Confiscated by order of Wm Marshall. I mailed a letter to James Henderson Jnr, Read Headly's Life of Napoleon or Napoleon & His Marshals, Marshal Berthier, [Carnear?] I recd to day
