26 Selma Ala June 6th..1865 Tuesday Relieved from duty at 9 oclock this A.M. had a very pleasant Time on Picket as our Reserve Post was located under a fine stately live oak Tree near a Cool Spring. and besides attending to my official duties I read the lives of Bessieres, [Coudon?] of the old Guard, Jourdan, Bernadotte and Suchet. I was Subpenaed this morning to appear before Major W. J. McKee (33d Mo Infty,) as a witness in the Case of Private Bradly who was arrested for going through the lines in disguise, Hale Sutter 12th Iowa opened shop to day
