22 Vicksburg Miss June 29" / 65 Thursday I took the Cars at Black river Bridge & Came into Vicksburg to day, and spent the time in looking over Boats, registers, Provost Marshalls office, and Telegraph Office when at the later place I recd a Telegram from Major Knee with orders to arrest John H. Force Co. A. another Substitute Deserter but every facility is allowed Deserters now by the negligence of all officials, who ask no questions of any one and the oppertunities of travel northward on so many different routes.
