Thursday, January 1st 1885. It was an intensely cold day. I was not away from home during the day but in the evening Will and I went over to Clutes to a supper party. Had a very pleasant time but did not stay late. Will was over town in the forenoon and Hattie come home with him for dinner. I had a number of letters today. Will brought me an elegant gold pen for a new years gift. Otto came home tonight. Friday January 2nd 1885. Weather still quite cold. I was at home all day And in the evening we went down to Aunt Ems party. John and Hatt with Will and I in a hack. We had a good time and did not get home till after three oclock. The party was a success and the young folks enjoyed the dancing very much. Saturday January 3rd 1885. I was busy about the house all the forenoon and Will and I spent the afternoon in town. We came home just before supper. We were both very tired and sleepy and went to bed early. The boys stood being up late better and did not go to bed till their usual time. Sunday January 4th 1885 It was a pleasant winter day we had company for dinner. All of Fathers relatives from town. John and Hatt was over for supper and spent the evening . Will and I spent the evening in the parlor. Weather more pleasant.
