Wednesday July 29th 1885 It was a very warm day. I finished putting down the carpet in the upper hall and Joe put down the one in the parlor bedroom and took up the one in the north room. about eleven oclock Aunt Ellen and Mollie come and we visited with them most of the afternoon Mr Free was here for supper. Joe put the carpet down in the north room. Thursday July 30th 1885 This is Ediths birthday. she is four years old. We got our work done up early and I went over town to get a new carpet for the hall and stairs and some shoes for myself. The picnic folks come about forty of them and brought dinner and supper both and we had a good time though it was the hottest day ever known. Friday July 31st 1885 I felt very tired this morning and after the work was done laid down for a little rest. I then wrote a letter to Will and Father before dinner. Mother went to town in the afternoon and Hatt and I made the hall carpet. Saturday August 1st 1885 Hatt is going to stay over here with the children for several weeks and Eva is coming to help with the work Us girls worked all the forenoon putting down the hall and stair carpet. I devoted the afternoon to some work for myself. And after supper Ott and I walked over to the depot to go down to Wilton to stay over Sunday.
